15 Cool Daybed With Trundle and Bookcase Designs - Now that we have a baby, we have all kinds of new literature,so to have a place to keep that, I want to make a bookcase to go right behind this chair. I'm gonna make this bookcase out of some nice oak veneered plywood. I found that part of a bed frame next to a dumpster in a townhouse complex. Having cut the pieces to width, I now need to cut them to length, and I'm employing a couple off tricks here. The first trick is to make a backwards scoring cut, so that way I avoid tear-out on the bottom in the veneer. And, the other trick I'm using is to put a board in front of the fence and that allows me to temporarily bypass the block that I'm using as a length stop. So, here's the shelves, and here's the sides of the shelves. and to cover-up this ugly edge, I'm gonna cut that from some trim that also came from this bed frame. Now I'll trim this trim flush with the surface using a flush trim bit on the router. I got the shelves and the sides, all trimmed. And, now I want to put these together. But, because these are already varnished, I figure the best way to go about this is to just put it together with a whole bunch of dowels, like this one. Now this does require drilling a whole bunch of holes into the ends of the shelves which can be difficult. What's useful is to use a doweling jig like this one and then drill through the holes. But, I'm gonna experiment with making a one-time use doweling jig out of this piece of hardwood. Well, so far this jig has worked out really well. But, the real test comes when I put this thing together. Hmm. Well, I should have dry-fitted that joint. Turns out my dowels were 1 millimeter too long, so I had to work really fast, no time to set-up the camera, With one side of the shelf glued-up, I now have to make all the boards with the holes here. So, I have to glue 28 dowels together all at once. So, I've got my clamps, and my mallet, and everything ready, and I'm gonna start by gluing all the dowels into here.

This is the bottom of the shelf, and my original intention was to have it sit on something like this, and then the base here. But, then I realized that if I inset that into a rabbet here, I won't have to hide the end-grain of this. And, I cut that rabbet with the pantorouter, just because it was the most convenient for me. I'm just nailing that on there, because it's on the bottom of the shelf and nobody's going to see it. And, here's the base for the shelf. The main purpose of the base is to get the shelf high enough so that it's up above the baseboard, so I can push it all the way against the walls. And, in the interest of getting it done quickly, I'm actually using pocket holes to attach the base. Yes, that's right. I'm using pocket holes. I'm sure I'll never hear the end of that. So, this jig has worked out quite well for drilling the holes and getting them all lined up. But, what I would do different next time is I would make it out of a piece of wood that's the same thickness as what I need to drill into, and that way to clamp it to the edge, I just need to screw another piece of plywood to the side of it. And, for on here I can just screw it on from the bottom, the same way. And, one thing that's worked out really well while making the jig, is to cut a thin slot along the line of the holes, because that helps to guide the point of the drill in this direction, which means I only need to worry about getting it just right in this direction.

Measure your boxes and cut your shelves to the right size, and test fit with the shelf pins to make sure they fit correctly. Now is a good time to paint the boxes and shelves. I'm going to paint the sides of my bookshelf white, and the back panel to match the rest of the wall. The way you paint and decorate this bookshelf will really change the look of the room, so explore some paint and wallpaper options that fit your space. So next, we will show you guys our beds. But first, we'll start with our old antique chest. Ta-da! My parents got it while antiquing In Missouri I think, because they were going around antiquing. Yeah, but basically, just holds all of our blankets. And then behind it, we have a secret bookshelf down here. It protects all of our books. It's where we keep all of our favorite books, you know, make our room look more organized and saves space, so, oh, it's a bookshelf and so we're good. I like that book! And we made this arrangement, because in our old room, we had two beds that were you know, they were sideways, side by side.

Well, this kind of like our magnetic bulletin board. We just hang up pictures of all of our friends and family up here. And over here is my little Trim-a-Rim circle. And it's a white board I like to write quotes on it and it has a little rim where you can create whatever you want, put whatever you want on it, like pictures, slides. So I just put that up there because I thought it went well. And these little lights around it just are left over lights from our seventh grade vice president and president campaign. And so we just hung them up because we've got to give it more of a teenager twist. This is what we like to call our Pixar lamp. And for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a lamp that goes like this. It's like You know? And then it's like The "i" of the Pixar. So this is our Pixar lamp. It's from Target. You all want a Pixar lamp, I know you do!

We're going to turn towards this little guy over here. This is This is my favorite part about our bedroom, honestly. I have to be honest. This is our reindeer. It's not It's a deer. It's a deer. But it's like I don't know. But we're trying it out. And I love it. We've seen this in magazines and stuff. And in Areopostale. Like unicorns. They're antique shoppers. Antiquings? I think they got it from Missouri again. Missouri has the best antique stores. Yes, it does. So if you're in Missouri, go antinquing. And then, we have our iHome down here. I don't know if you can see it, but i Homes are i Homes. Nothing more you can say about it.

It's really, really sad. But then again, we got lucky because it's a nice walk-in closet, and we have enough room to store all of our clothes. We have a bajillion little cubbies in there to store everything. And it looks pretty good. I would say! It's usually not this clean. But we try. Yeah, we do. This is our grand mirror, and we got it from Hobby Lobby. And I must say, it weighs A ton. Thanks, Dad! My Dad can attest to that because he hung it up. He hung it up for us. Now that it's time to paint, you can slide the bottom off which will make it a lot easier to paint the inside. With everything painted, attach the bottom to the rest of the assembly using glue? and screws and the daybed's done. We attached another hollow-core door to the wall to act as a headboard. And we've got some little fun gas tanks and a "d" for who? Dax! Daxton and his little table here for whatever he wants to have at night, which has some little books on it right now. We have these crazy, tall ceilings in this house. They're 10 feet tall. So to help bring the walls a little bit down, I added board and batten on the walls right here and just had someone come in and make this for me. And then I knew three big chunky piece to help decorate it, and I found these so cute  a Historic Route 66 sign and a Standard Oil Company sign. And they're both metal. And then this cute little metal stop sign right here. And all of those were from Hobby Lobby. So super easy to find, and literally, just put up on the wall, which takes no effort, so it's fantastic. So on this side of the room, we have another little gas tank. And I knew Dax needed a little space to keep his toys, or maybe some socks and underwear, something like that.

So we got this fun little locker cabinet. These drawers just open up. Purple Bedding Queen Size You can see Paisley has Prince Eric hanging out in there right now. So we just found these fun little lockers that are all numbered. And this was actually Hobby Lobby. And this looks just like some stuff on Restoration Hardware right now, but way, way cheaper. So great alternative. So to just help pull in some extra colors, and because I'm seeing fun pendants hanging everywhere in bedrooms right now, I went ahead and got these triangle they were just white cardboard pendants at Hobby Lobby, and then took scrapbook paper with letters on it. And we spelled out Daxton's name. So you can see, it's D-A-X-T-O-N. And we hung those off the foot of his bed. And underneath the bed, this was probably the thing that meshed the room the very best, because Paisley's bed is actually red. And this rug right here is made out of denim and little strips of wool. And it pulled out both the blues and the reds, and then also pops the paint color with these little bit lighter squares. And I got this on rugsusa.com. So that was a fantastic find, and probably one of the hardest pieces was just finding the right rug to mesh the two beddings together. And this is perfect. So now, we enter Paisley's half of the room. This room was shaped like strange, with this little offshoot, off to one side. And we decided that it would be the perfect little princess area back here. Do you love your sheepskin rug? It's soft, huh? So what I did was when I had the person who build the board and batten for me.

I actually found Daybed Bedding Purple And Green a picture of Pinterest and had him replicate this fun bed. So it's all built in. And under here, it's just a giant drawer where we can either do a trundle bed, or toys, depending on what we want to use it for. So we added these adorable sparkley knobs. So I knew once I had the bed finished, that this bedding would also be perfect for this space. And I went online and found this amazing it's called "Retro Ruby" damask print on beddys.com, as well. And again, it zips. So Paisley can just unzip it, and climb in, and then zip it back up in the morning when she's done. And it's all built in. And I love it, because I don't have to tuck the other side of the bedding. This space, because it's built in, and bunk beds would be the same way. They're difficult to reach all the way over and get on the other side, which is awesome. And the pillows I mostly made. I make this one with just some lace, and some fabric, and pom-poms. This one actually came just like this fabric. It just had the stripes already sewn onto it. Jenny and I sewed the pillows together. And then she did this cute, little glitter heart for Paisley. So it was a really fun way to decorate the pillows. This red one came with the bedding. So that was an easy find. It also came with a red and white polka dot. So the bedding came completed in a package with a sham, a pillow, a sheet, a fitted sheet, a blanket, and a comforter all in one.

So that was a great, Purple Daybed Set easy way to shop for bedding. When the twins saw this bedding, they actually loved it so much that we recently ordered them a set too. And I'm hoping that since it's so simple to make, my teenagers will even make their beds. This love sign was crazy easy to make. It's just foam board that we cut into the word, "love," and a little heart, and then just use scraobook paper with mod podge to cover it so that it matched Daxton's side of the room, so it holds some of the denims back into her space. And then we did the same thing with her little fabric swag and her little "sweat pea" sign. We covered it in denim, scrapbook paper, and used all of the same colors in the fabric here. We used silver and sparkles, so it's still those really girlie, and red, and blue, and white. But it just has a very feminine touch, which I just love. I love, love, love her swag. And I also wanted to pull some color to this side of the wall. So I painted these just basic wooden frames that I got at Hobby Lobby red, and that added a little pop on the walls. This crown, I found at Hobby Lobby, but it was black and this really shiny material. And so we just got some silver glitter spray paint and spraypainted it so that it would match all of her silver. And the "p" was just a little wooden "p" we found at Hobby Lobby. And the flowers, same thing. And we just hot-glued all of the flowers onto the shape of the "p," which added a really, really fun feminine touch. And she loves that thing. She keeps running around the house, it's my "p." It's my flower "p." So this little lighted heart that is so fun, I found at Restoration Hardware. So that was literally a purchase and hang on the wall, which is great.

We designed our own bedding! We got obsessed with this bedding company called Beddy's cuz it has, like, zippers and it's super cool. So, there's one for Brooklyn and then one for Bailey and they're both super cute but totally different cuz you guys know we are not alike. No. Not at all. And we just organized our room according to the bedding, to make it all come together. Yes.  And we're super excited to show you.  So, let's go. Welcome to my space. So, with my old room, I kind of felt like it was more, like, blah. Like really adult ish. So, this time, I was like, I really want, like, lots of color and some personality.

So, Modern Daybed Bedding Ideas Designs with this wall, it was, like, creative Jenny from ShowMeCute came in And, it's kind of like, blown up teenager on this wall. Sunglasses and Converse, and, obviously, Texas is one of my major things of my personality. And Y'ALL over here. I say that, like, a bunch and all the time so, it's just perfect. And then just printed off some pictures and hung some sunglasses and voila! We have a teenager blow up wall. And then we have this little lovely couch which, we have had this grey couch in our old room. And then we threw on this fur throw from World Market which, it totally made it match the bedroom way better. And then these pillows. And a lovely table that we got from Ikea. And then, let's not forget about this awesome rug that we got from Haiti. And now my favorite part about the bedroom which is the bedding.

So, I designed my bedding like this because Brooklyn and I, kind of, wanted to do our personalities in our bedding. Little Girl Daybed Bedding Sets So, I have lots of girly stuff in there, like ruffles and flowers and polka dots and teal. So, it's really girly and the name of the bedding is Always Enchanting which totally brings out the girlyness. So, there is a zipper on the side that unzips the top layer of the bedding. So, it's basically a blanket, but it's like a zip on blanket. So, you can sleep with the blanket on top of you and then, when you get out of bed, you don't have to fold up the blankets and anything crazy like that. You can just, like, zip up the blanket and your bed is made. The teenager's dream. Lazy teenager's dream, right here. And then we have this lamp, wonderful lamp, from Target. And then there's the hello painted on the wall. That was painted by our good friend Jenny from ShowMeCute. And the glasses, I keep wanting to say sunglasses, but really they're just glasses.

Dreamy Daybed & Bedding American Girl They're based off of my glasses since I have glasses that look just like those because, in reality, I'm actually pretty blind. I can't see anything. And, then, onto the B & B on the wall, as you can see. We had to put it in order because Brooklyn and Bailey so mine has to be more, like, edgy, and chic and Bailey's has to be more, you know, cutesy. And this is all from Michael's. The B & B is from Michael's. My favorite part is my bedding. My favorite place in the room it's my favorite thing in the room. It's, you know, it's just happiness right here. And, as you can see, mine's a little bit bolder and darker than Bailey's. The big florals on here made it, kind of, girly but also, you know, a little street chic. And then I threw on this, like, triangular design because I thought it was a little bit more edgy. Which is why I named my bedset Totally Unexpected as you can see on this pillow. It's Totally Unexpected. It's a combination of a whole bunch of designs and all sorts of colors just all thrown together to make this super adorable bed. The bedding here comes with this sham, this floral sham, and this triangular pillow case. I don't know. Can you see it? It's over there. Right behind the white one. Obviously, I love that I don't have a comforter that's hanging over, hiding my baskets down here. One of my favorite things to do is relax by an open fire. And a fire pit makes it even nicer. They're great for outdoor entertaining and when the weather starts to cool off you can still enjoy the outdoors. Now the fire pit I'm going to show you how to build is an easy project. Deluxe Patio Swing Daybed With Canopy You can do it by yourself or with your family. Now before you start the construction of your fire pit, there are a few things to consider. First you'll have to check with any local ordinances or homeowner's association guidelines to see a fire pits are permitted. Next, think about the location. You'll need an open area away from the house or low tree limbs... or anything else that could catch fire. Try to account for the wind direction too, so smoke isn't always blowing in your windows. And it might be helpful to put your fire pit near your wood pile. Now once you have a spot picked out it's time to start building. The fire that I'm building is very basic. It's going to be a ring of blocks with a steel fire pit bowl fit into the top. Now this method will work for most steel fire pit bowls. Just make sure the bowl has a lip to support itself on the blocks. Of course you don't want to build this on a deck but if you have an existing patio you can build it there. We're going to to put ours on a paver base, like the one we built here. They're easy to build. Just dig up the area, add a gravel base then a layer of sand, and install the blocks. For detailed instructions, watch "How to Build a Patio" at Lowes.com/videos. Now we can start building the ring. If you're fire bowl needs assembly do that first, but you can leave off the legs. Then place the screen cover on the base to mark the center of the fire pit. Position the first layer of block around the cover. Maing sure all the joints are tight. Once that's set, you can take away the cover. Okay, for the next row, just set them on top of the first row. The blocks are just dry fit together. Make sure the blocks are staggered for strength, then add the third, and fourth layers, again staggering the joints. All right, our base is done. Now if you're not going to use a steel fire pit bowl, you'll have to line the inside of the ring with fireproof blocks. But with either method be sure to clean out the ashes regularly.

Next take the fire pit tray without the legs, and set it in the ring. And, Patio Daybed With Canopy now put in the grate. And that's it for the fire pit. Now it's a good idea to keep a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby, just in case. Now here's an easy way to get your fire going. Take one of there starter logs, which you can find at Lowe's, set it on the grate, and then stack a few logs over it like this, sort of like a tipi. Light the starter log, and let it burn. Once it's going, cover it with the screen lid. And, the great thing about leftover ashes, is you can mix them with your compost to put in your garden beds. And voila! He can climb in. And I will show you how it works, because it's so awesome. So the whole bed is hooked together. Imagine a bed in a bag, but all sewn together. So there's a fitted sheet. It feels like a fitted sheet. But it's the entire bedding. So you pull the whole thing over. And that's hooked to the actual bed sheet, right here, which is hooked to this awesome minky blanket, which is my kid's favorite, because they love the soft, silky, cuddle-feel to it when they're in bed. And then on top of that, you have the comforter all sewn onto it, so the kids can do this. Show them how you made your bed in the morning. Zip, and he's done. So it's crazy easy, quick, and simple. And then I don't have to make the beds, because even Paisley can zip hers shut. And I love it, because Paisley doesn't kick her covers off at night. So it's fantastic. So I got this bed at wayfair.com and put this nice metal bed together with all of his fun bedding. So we have this fun truck pillow that Jenny from ShowMeCute actually came down and painted for Dax, which I just love.

To really make this side of the room feel like it's her space. And everything else, we got these really fun polka dot curtains. And we got these little they're called swing arms. I had never seen these before. But they're half arms, because I didn't want a curtain rod across the entire thing. And there's no wall to mount it on. So we got these little swing arm curtain rods, and we just draped the curtains down, bought some ribbon. And we even found these so cute little crystals to tie to the end that matched the crystals on her light fixture. So it pulls everything in her room, in her little section of the room together. So this is definitely Princess Paisley's area, and her little sheepskin rug from Restoration Hardware too helps just make it feel super girly, and feminine, and warm, and cozy and just really fun. Bathroom is Jack and Jill bathroom onto Ryland's. We found this cute little tin at Hobby Lobby, as well, that's a Chevrolet Corvette sign, which helps pull the car theme together. Just a little "y" for Daxton's favorite football team. Now, when I was designing their room, I knew we had a little space over here. And I really wanted to have a seating area of some sort where they could just have some chill space, and some relaxation, an area. So we found these adorable little lean back chairs. They're little miniature sized on Restoration Hardware. And I bought two of those. And then of course, accented with homemade pillows, with just again, the cars in them, and the little stuffed animals. And I found this pillow actually at Target this had the little tassels, so I thought it still felt feminine, and found this little metal stool.

14 Modern White Daybed with Trundle Designs - Congratulations on the purchase of your Catalina Crib. As the focal point of the nursery this expertly crafted crib will give your baby a safe and comfortable place to sleep and grow. Make sure you have plenty of space for assembling the crib. Carefully unpack the box. Unwrap and set aside the large components. Locate the instructions mounted to the mattress base, and the hardware package identified with a red ribbon. Lay out all of the hardware components. Place all of the packaging back into the larger box and set aside so you have a clear working space. One at a time, attach the crib headboard posts to the crib headboard panels. Use bolts and an Allen key to secure the pieces together. Next attach the left and right crib ends to the headboard posts using the bolts and the Allen key. Do not fully tighten the bolts yet in order to make the next few steps easier. Next prepare the mattress base. Use the flathead bolts and the allen key to attach the base brackets to each corner. The top of each bracket should point away from the base and the bottom should wrap underneath. Choose your desire height for the mattress base before attaching. Using the smaller bolts and the allen key, attached the mattress base to the crib ends. Do not fully tighten the bolts yet in order to make the next steps easier.

Place the instructions back into the envelope mounted on the mattress base for safe-keeping. Now you can dress your crib with a skirt, mattress, bumper, and blanket. Place your crib skirt over the base, making sure the skirt nicely hangs below all four sides of the crib. Next place a comfortable crib mattress down. Cover the mattress with cotton sheeting, that will be soft against your baby's skin. Attach a coordinating bumper around the inside of the crib. Diy Twin Daybed Frame The first one for my bedroom decoration series. And I'm thinking about doing like a bedroom series since a lot of you guys have been asking for more room decoration decor and DIYs, and also for me to do a room tour. I'm not completely done decorating my room, so I thought of doing a series, and as I go, you guys can kinda see the new stuff that I'm making, and I can also introduce you guys to new DIYs. At first I was thinking about making, like, one video filled with a whole bunch of DIYs that you can make for this upcoming Valentine's Day, and for decorating your room, but then the more I thought about it, I was just like, you know what, I want to be able to provide you guys with quality instruction and a quality DIY, instead of making disposable things that you will get of. I want to make things that you can feel proud of, at the end of all my videos, and also for you to keep around for, you know, the long term. So let's start off the series with a DIY canopy. So let's run down the list of materials for this DIY canopy. First off, to set the look, you will need a fabric that suits your taste. I'm using about eight yards of lace see-through fabric.Next, I have two one-inch thick wooden dowels. You can use smaller and thinner ones as well, if you use a lightweight fabric. You can find these at your home improvement stores, or craft stores. They're pretty lightweight, and cost between 50 cents to two dollars each. Preventing the fabric from sliding off the ends are these one and a half inch wooden plates. Craft stores should carry this in the wood or dollhouse making section. To hang up the canopy, you will need four screw-on hooks. And this should depend on the weight of your canopy and fabric.

If you are using something heavier weight, then I would suggest for you to get bigger hooks that can withhold the weight. If you want to prevent your hooks from tearing through the Sheetrock ceiling, find anchors that matches your hook screw thickness. Next, Diy Daybed Frame I will be using about three yards in ribbon. And this should all be determined based on how low you want to hang you canopy. Lastly, I will be using pins, a needle, and some thread to match my fabric. So for step one, determine where you would like your canopy to hang on your ceiling. You will be using two sets of screw-on hooks, a pair for each dowel. Measure out four holes, evenly spaced apart. What I first did, was determine how wide I wanted my canopy. Now with a marking pencil, measure about ten inches in on the edges of your bed, and 12 inches from the wall. The second set of measurements will also be measured from the wall out, going 32 inches. You can also use different type of measurements, depending on where you would like to place your canopy. Step two, drill holes into the ceiling and press in your anchors like so. Then, screw in the hooks. Step three, let's make up the canopy. Start by tying some ribbon to the hooks that you screwed in earlier. Then, drape the uncut fabric into the ribbon on both ends. Adjust it on both sides until you get the look that you want. This will also help you know if you have any excess fabric to cut off. Make sure to place pins where you need to cut, and also tie the ribbon as you take off the fabric. The ribbon will help mark where you will need to hang up the canopy, and sew pockets for the dowels. Alright, so step four, cut off the excess fabric. I purchase about ten yards of fabric, and end up only using eight yards. With the leftover material I think I will make a curtain with it. Step five, it's time to spread out the fabric and make sure to leave your marking spot. Now take out one of the dowels, and place it into the wrong side of the fabric. Fold the fabric over it. Now it's time to double-thread your needle, and tie at the bottom.

Go ahead and hand sew in the fabrics together, Diy How To Make Daybed Frame like so, and basically what we're doing is sewing a pocket for the dowel. Make sure to repeat this on the other mark where you tied your ribbon. Once you're finished with your sewing, you should have something like this. For step six I decided to prime and spraypaint my wooden plates a metallic silver. Then, once that's dry, I go ahead and glue them onto each ends of my dowels. For step seven I'm going to cut out two sets of 30 inch length ribbons. This length allows me to suspend my rods 15 inches from my ceiling. Find the middle and then tie them to each ends of the rod in a simple knot. Then tie the loose ends together with a square knot like so. Alright, so now we are on to our last step, and that is step eight, hang up the canopy. I'm very pleased with how this turned out. If I was to do anything differently, then I would probably cut the dowels shorter, or either paint them silver.  Contemporary Elegant Daybed Coversn - We will show you how to build a French Mattress Style Cushion. This is one of the easiest types of cushions to sew, it does not have a zipper or Velcro opening, but is simply sewn shut. The mattress style seams give it a great look without the work of installing a piping. Let’s get started as we show you every step in how to make your own using supplies from Sailrite. To get started we first need to do some patterning on our decorative fabric. Cushions have a top and bottom plate and boxing on the sides. The first is for a cushion filled with Fiberfill. A little later on we will give guidelines for patterning for a cushion filled with a sheet of foam. First let’s discuss the requirements for a French Mattress Style Cushion filled with fiber. Determine the size of the cushion you want and the thickness. The cut top and bottom plate needs to be 1 ¾” larger than the desired finished size of your cushion. See our example in yellow here. Angela is marking the fabric to size here with a soapstone pencil and a straight edge ruler. We are using a Sunbrella Upholstery or Furniture Fabric which is the world’s best outdoor fabric. Why? That will be discussed a little later on in the video. When marking the along the width of this fabric the location of the stripes must be taken into consideration for the second plate panel.

Daybed Covers At Sears, Here is where the first plate started and that’s also the location where we want the second plate to start. Here along the same line, so the repeat is the same between top plate and bottom plate. If you have done it correctly the end point of this second plate should fall on the same strip as the end point of the first plate we made. Next we need to mark for the boxing in both width and length. To calculate the width of the boxing we need to add 1 ¾ inch to the desired finished width of boxing that you want. This extra amount will account for the mattress style seams. For our cushion we want it to finish at about 5 1/2 inches in thickness. So we will add 1 ¾ inch to that figure making our cut width 7 ¼ inches. We also want the stripes to line up so we will position the boxing right above the two plates we just traced out on the fabric. The length of the boxing should match the plate’s length on each side. Our cushion is a square so all 4 sides are the same length. Obviously the boxing on the side of the cushion will not line up with the top and bottom plate stripes. We are cutting our Sunbrella fabric out with the Sailrite Edge Hot Knife. This seals the edge of the synthetic fabric preventing the unraveling of the fabric. We are cutting on top of a metal ruler to prevent damage to the table top below the hot knife. Our two plates and 4 boxing strips are now cut to size and ready for sewing. We have now covered patterning for a cushion filled with fiberfill let’s move on and touch on how to pattern for a French Mattress style cushion filled with a sheet of foam. To cut plates for this simply add ¾ inch on all sides. To cut the boxing to width use the foam thickness and add 1 inch then add between ¼” to ¾” for seam allowance. This will result in a cover that compresses the foam slightly making it look great! The length of the boxing should equal the sides of the plates.

If you’re making a cushion using a sheet of foam skip this chapter. Since this cushion will be filled with a Polyester Fiberfill we want to make a pillow insert which will house the fiberfill. Daybed Covers Walmart To make this we will use Spun Bonded Pillow Protector fabric. This fabric is inexpensive, breathable, water repellent and soft. Fold the Spun Bonded fabric in half then fold it over one more time to a width slightly larger than the width of the boxing. Then trace around a plate and a boxing strip. As you can see we will get two plates and 4 boxing strips all at once when we cut it out. These plates and boxing strips for the pillow insert to do not need to be extremely accurate in size, since they just used to house the fiberfill. No reason to use a hot knife on this Spun Bonded fabric as it does not unravel. We now have all the plates and boxing strips cut for our cushion in both the decorative fabric and the Spun Bonded Pillow Protector Fabric. It is always a good idea to lay the fabric panels out in an organized fashion before sewing. This reduces the chance of mistakes experientially. No matter if you are making a cushion filled with fiberfill, as we are, or a sheet of foam the construction is the same for both. Strat with the boxing and lay the corresponding boxing strip onto of the opposite leg so outside surfaces are facing each other. Then sew the two strips together along the short end with a straight stitch about 3/8 inch inside the raw edges of the fabric. Be sure to do some reverse stitching at the beginning and end of your stitch to lock the stitch in place. Take the assembly over to the where the panels are laid out and grab the corresponding boxing strip and repeat the process. Always go back to the panels as they lay on the table and check to be sure strips are running the correct direction and also that they will line up to the plates, along the two sides that is, as it is impossible for them to line up along the other two sides.

Once all 4 boxing strips are sewn together, Daybed Covers Pottery Barn it is time to join them together to form a complete chain. Be sure the outside surfaces are facing each other and sew along the end that completes the chain. We will not show sewing that. Now take the boxing assembly over and line it up with one of the plates so the strips are all even. Flip the boxing over so outside surfaces are facing each other and the edges are even. We will start sewing near the center position on this side. We will use a straight stitch set at about 6mm in length and sew about 3/8” from the edge of the fabric. Be sure to line up the strips and the edge carefully as you sew. Notice that when Angela gets to a corner she will bury her needle to the thickest part of the shaft and the lift the presser foot rotate the fabric on the corner and then lower the foot and continue to sew down the next leg. Because this side does not have stripes that match the plate we can’t use them line up the boxing to the plate. So, she will ensure that the opposite corner will line up with the plate’s corner. This is not extremely critical for small cushions, but for larger cushions this is a very important step in keeping the boxing and plate’s edge length the same while sewing. Continue sewing around all sides until you reach your starting stitch and do some reversing there. We will not be showing that. Now that the boxing is joined to one plate we simply need to sew that assembly to the last plate. To do this line up the plate so the strips will match on the two sides they matched for the other plate. Be sure outside surfaces are facing each other. It is easier to sew this assembly with the boxing on top and the plate on the bottom. We will not actually start sewing near the center of this boxing, but instead will move about 2 to 3 inches away from the corner. Why? Because we want to leave one side open for the later insertion of the cushion insert or foam. Now just sew around securing the boxing to the last plate, just as you did earlier. As we discussed, here on this side the stirpes cannot be matched up so check to be sure the corner will match up before sewing this side, on larger cushions this is very important, on small ones like this it is not.

We have skipped ahead here and are coming to the last side again. We want to just go around this corner and then stop sewing about 3 inches from the corner or away from the corner. This leaves an opening for the insertion of the foam or insert in a later step. Daybed Covers For Twin Bed It is important to do some revering here to lock the stitch in place and also keeps the stitch from coming apart when the insert or foam is pushed inside the cover. Turn the cover right side out. Next we will sew the “mattress” style stitch along all sides and even at the corners of the cushion cover. To do this fold the fabric out flat along each seam and try to position the seam at the extreme center edge of the folded assembly, as shown in the video. Then position the assembly so the stitch starts about a half inch away from the side’s corner and about 3/8 inch away from the folded edge. To keep the first seam centered correctly, sew a few inches then bury the needle make adjustments to the assembly and repeat. When you reach the next corner, stop about a half inch away and do some reversing. To move onto the next edge we will not even cut the trailing threads. We will simply remove the needle from the fabric, lift the foot, reposition the assembly just as we did earlier and sew onto the next corner. As you watch to see how Angela does this lets discuss the merits of using a Sunbrella Upholstery or Furniture Fabric for outdoor or indoor cushions. White Wooden Daybed With Trundle On the day bed with the computers. And I'd like to make some drawers to go underneath them. And I even made a drawer like that before, but the problem with these desks is they go underneath the bed, so I need a drawer that doesn't touch the floor. As usual, I'm starting this project with some used lumber I picked up from the garbage. And here I'm cutting that into strips to use for my drawers. I glued some of the scraps side by side to get enough width for the drawers. It seems to be fashionable to take new wood, and make it look old and banged up. But I like to go against fashions, so I taking my old wood and planing it down a bit, to make it look newer. And, as usual, I'm joining the corners with my screw advance box joint jig. I usually run it without a table saw insert, so that I suck a little bit more dust down the saw, And I'm making 1/4 inch joints, and I'm just using a regular table saw blade by making multiple cuts. The pieces of tape on the gear, tell me where I need to stop, to make the cuts. So, here's the sides and back of my big drawer. And the front needs to go on to form a bit of a T-joint, like this. So, I could cut a series of mortises for this joint, but what I'm doing instead, is I cut a really deep set of box joints on here. Now, that leaves a whole lot of gaps here but this was actually my sacrificial backup for cutting these joints, and I just need to stick that in here, and that will fill all the gaps. Before I put it together, I need to put a rabbet in the bottom of the front. This groove will allow me to attach the bottom of the drawer, later. Now I just got to put glue between all the fingers, and I can assemble those front joints. Getting the clamping square, helps to keep it all square while I work on the rest of that drawer. An extra comb piece glued into the end of that joint, fills it in. Most of that comb gets cut off on the table saw. It's just more convenient to glue it into the comb, instead of individual pieces. Now I'm ripping some Mahogany veneer to go on the front. I like to do that on the table saw, instead of the band saw if I can reach across it from both sides, using a 7 1/4 inch blade, because it makes a very thin curve and the cut is smooth and precise enough that I don't have to do that much to it to get to the final surface.

Now Wooden Daybed With Trundle Contemporary Style In Cherry the Mahogany that I had wasn't quite wide enough so I have to join 2 pieces edge to edge to make a full width veneer for the drawer. I'm using my long-reach C-clamps to make sure that the layers stay lined up in the middle. I'm using a scrap of wood to spread the glue on the front and on the veneer. That way I don't have a glue roller or glue brush that I need to worry about cleaning afterwards. I'm using a scrap of carpeting to spread the clamping force all over the front, and then a board on top of that and then lots and lots of clamps After applying all the clamps, I go through all of them and tighten them a little bit more. I used a hand plane to flush trim the veneer to the drawer. I could have use a machine for but it wasn't worth setting up. And then I use my reverse scoring trick, to cut off the ends of the veneer. Without getting any chip-out on the front. I made 2 drawers 80 by 85 centimeters but the plywood comes in 150 by 150 centimeter sheets, and there's now way to get 2 of those out of that without overlapping a bit, so I decided to just have the corner missing from one of them. I used a 45 degree cut for gluing in the piece that was missing. I figured that way I get a slightly stronger glue joint. And now I'm ready to glue the bottom on. The glue is what mostly holds it on, but I'm also putting in a row of brad nails just to be on the safe side and also to hold it together while the glue dries. I made some brackets to hold the drawer slides and those clamp to the angle iron that the slats actually rest on. So that way I can easily slide them in place. Pushing these drawer slides closed for the first time is always a bit of a challenge. Now I just need to put the slats and the mattress back in place and it's almost done. My initial plan was to just open the drawers by reaching underneath them but then a few days later I ended up putting drawer handles on there. But the cool thing is, the drawers aren't completely full of junk yet, it's like they're still virgin storage space.
