Contemporary Elegant Wooden King Size Bed Frame with Drawers

Contemporary Elegant Wooden King Size Bed Frame with Drawers - So far we have done the side rails. We've also cut, shaped and assembled the legs for the footboard. Head boards can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make them. I'm going to take a two by six. Cut it in half on the miter saw. Actually the measurement is forty seven and fifteen sixteenths if you happen to have one that measures exactly ninety six inches. Sometimes they can come in a little shorter or longer so just make sure. Now I'll make a series of marks up the sides of those boards. The first mark will determine how high your mattress will ultimately be. Personal preference their. Obviously if you have a pillow top, and you're a shorter person, that's going to be a different measurement for you. And then I'll draw an arc and that will be the shape I want the head board to take on. And then I think I'll reduce some of the profile of the legs and angle the top back. Obviously there is no magic bullet here, it's just what feels right to you, so be creative. I will cut a half lap joint on the table saw the same way you saw me do it in part 1 of this project. Now that that is done, I'll clamp the piece to the work station and work the jigsaw. That ctually looks pretty good so I will skip the drill press drum and smooth it with some light hand sanding. Some 120 grit wrapped around a sanding sponge works pretty well. Alright now I'll mark out for a dado This is how I will be joining the legs to the center piece. Speaking of said center piece, here it is, lets trim it to length. Yes I always keep a roll of blue tape in the shop.

Black Wooden King Size Bed Frame For woodworking and my paper Mache smurf hobby. You know what, just ignore that last statement. One final piece to the head board. That's the lower stretcher we'll cut that on the miter saw now. Give everything a light sanding and round over the edges, NOW, we are technically ready to start assembly of the head board and foot board BUT, I ain't gonna. Because I've decided to use contrasting stains I'm actually going to stain each component before assembling them. I like to do one light coat of stain. That generally raises the grain. A light sand with 220 grit knocks it down and then I'll come back with a second coat til I get the color I want. Keep in mind we are not dealing with a shop project here. You want this to be something that you and your family will enjoy and be proud of for years to come. Take some time to do this part right. It took me just shy of a week to apply all the coats of stain, the sanding, the poly and I'll admit it will test your patience. But at the end, I think you'll be better for it. Alright, time for assembly, now this part goes quick, ready? Foot board first. Attach the legs to the stretcher That's all there is for the foot board so set that aside and start on the head board. Some glue in the dados.

One down. One to go. I think, King Size Oak Bed Frame With Drawers I'd have to use my fingers. Tight fit. That's what you want. Almost there. Lets flip this over. Lay down some kspacers and you may want to think about some cloth as well so you don't scratch the front of the center piece. Because I don't have clamps that would span the distance from one side to the other this is the one spot that I will use pocket holes to bring everything together nice and tight. These head boards can be heavy, especially the king size ones, so use the buddy system if you have to. And that's it all the pieces are assembled so it's time to put the hole thing together. To put everything together, I connected the side rails to the foot board first. They just slide down into their spot in the corners of the foot board. Sort of like, Sooo. Then you can connect them with screws from the inside, perhaps some pocket holes if you felt so inclined. The other side gets knocked in place with a mallet and same thing here, simple screws, pocket holes or threaded inserts. One last thing Don't forget your cross brace mattress supports. Those are a simple matter of taking your final cross measurements, cutting to length and adding a T leg in the center. Simply easy diy dot com. I will have a cutlist, measurements and dimensions. King Size Wooden Bed Frame With Drawers You’ll build two side cases for the platform bed, each consists of a base, a top, a series of dividers, and a backer. Add the veneer to the edges that will be visible. When you attach each divider, just drive one screw and check for square before driving the rest of the screws. Attach the rest of the dividers that way, then glue and screw the top piece to the dividers (1 side case.avi). When you attach the back, don’t glue it, just use screws so you can remove it when you apply the finish to the inside of the case. (2 Side Case Back.avi) The end case is assembled just like the sides. (3 End Case.avi) The headboard is a really basic assembly, attach the stiles and the rail to the headboard panel using glue and screws, and then veneer the visible edges. Now you can put all the pieces together. Add the rails to the side cases, then add the supports to the backside of the cases. Lay out all 3 cases, and attach the final rail to the end case at the foot of the bed. Now you can put the headboard in place, and attach it using the connector bolts and nuts.
